Paul van Dyk will be releasing his 9th studio album next month with the first single to be take from it soon to be released ‘Music Rescues Me’ featuring the vocals of Plumb…
It’s great news to hear that Paul van Dyk will be unleashing a new collection of productions for his 9th album release. He is set to launch the album with a special event in London at the Printworks on the 12th October. Little is known about the new album though, as no tracklist or any pre-order link has been posted anywhere in cyberspace. The only hint of what lies ahead is his new single, the first to be taken from the album ‘Music Rescues Me’ featuring a vocalist he’s used on a few of his tracks Plumb. You may well have heard this on his radio show and live sets over the past few months but for those with a long music memory you might remember it from a few more months than that.
:: Radio Edit :: Extended Mix
I always do a little research on any track I take the time to put my thoughts to on here. I was not aware than this track was originally conceived way back in 2012 and featured the vocals from Johnny McDaid. From what I can gather it was due a single release and even touted to be featured on his Evolution artist album but neither ever came to light. This new single then, is really a rework of an old concept which never got released. There is nothing wrong with that. Substitute the male vocal for the female harmonics of Plumb and add a good banging beat to things is what Paul has been up to here. I think the vocal works in here; I’ve always been a fan of Plumb, especially on Paul’s music. The production as you expect is very well polished with some tasty piano keys driving the melody here. It’s got that Paul van Dyk signature sound he has evolved over the years.
Conclusion:
The signs are good Paul’s forthcoming artist album is going to be a good one. It’s a welcome turnaround as you used to wait years between albums but his new release comes a year on ‘From Then On’, which was a corker of an album. If you’re at the launch event on the 12th October you will be one of the first to sample the sound of it, until then enjoy the first single from it which should be out very soon.
