Post subject: Gatecrasher Nottingham: Eric Prydz, Saturday 7th April |
|
|
Following a road-blocked event in Nottingham two years ago, electro-house legend Eric Prydz makes a massive return to Gatecrasher Nottingham for the ultimate bank holiday mash up this April. If you thought Prydz's incredible fusion of electro/trance/techno/house was mind-blowing enough, the Swedish giant will collaborate with Gatecrasher to create the ultimate in visual stimulation. Prydz will be joined at the event by his very own protégé Jeremy Olander who makes a Gatecrasher debut.
Earlier this year Eric stamped a pyrotechnic/production precedent on UK clubland when he showcased his unforgettable live show. An awe-inspiring combination of 3D animation, holograms, mind-blowing visuals and LED mastery, EPIC set standards for electronic live shows worldwide. For this event Gatecrasher will work with Prydz add create a new level of production magic, as only they know how! Expect state-of-the-art computer wizardry, the most spectacular visual stimulation, out-of-this-world originality and combine it with the stunning environment of Gatecrasher Nottingham for a never-to-be-forgotten Bank holiday event.
World famous superstar DJ Eric Prydz, the producer behind chart topping hits needs no introduction. They say that fortune favours the brave. For Eric Prydz, a bold musical agenda and an unrivalled ability to combine commercial success (3 x Top 2 UK hit singles) with underground notoriety (fastest selling release ever on cult download store Beatport), has allowed him to achieve worldwide recognition with his integrity intact.
His first No.1 clocked up over 4 million sales, the Grammy nominated ‘Proper Education’, the reworking of Floyd’s ‘Another Brick In The Wall’ reached No.2 in the UK charts and ‘Pjanoo’ became Beatport’s fastest selling release also hitting No.2 .
Prydz is well known for commercial success, topping music and video charts across Europe, but has also become an underground star. It’s Pryda and Mouseville that have allowed Prydz to remain something of an enigma while being a household name. Both labels are held in the highest regard by an adoring underground scene, though their releases are made available with scarcely any promotion. Musically, they’ve become genre-defining stables in their own right, and are two of the most successful and influential dance labels in the world (acknowledged by Beatport as being among their biggest grossing imprints).
On Pryda, and under the same alias, Prydz explores his house influences with a plethora of tracks that have become huge club tunes around the globe. Songs like “Aftermath”, “Armed”, “Muranyi” and “Melo”, layer harmonies, melodies and hooks over his unmistakable basslines. DJ’s across the board, from Tiesto to Roger Sanchez have all been dropping the Pryda tracks in their sets.
His Mouseville imprint has seen Prydz produce under the alias Cirez D, releasing harder and more upfront techno tracks to great acclaim. “On Off”, the biggest selling EP from the label epitomises the Mouseville ethos with its succinct nod to the Swedish underground.
Eric also created Pryda Friends as an outlet for tracks created by his friends. This has created a number of collaborations, including the inimitable “1983” with Paulo Mojo and “123” with fellow Swedish producer, Axwell.
2011 was a phenomenal year for the Eric. As well as a phenomenal Amnesia residency Prydz placed electronic music back at the forefront of technological innovation. Utilising groundbreaking new technology, Prydz’ ‘EPIC’ show smashed the boundaries of music and technology. For Eric Prydz, a bold musical agenda and an unrivalled ability to combine commercial success with underground notoriety has allowed him to achieve worldwide recognition with integrity. Prydz’s return to Gatecrasher promises to be spectacular!
And Prydz couldn't let 2011 pass without a hit record: the euphoric '2Night'. Prydz said “It was by far the biggest record in my sets at our night in Ibiza,” he says. “Every time I played it the dancefloor on the terrace would sit down and jump up as it dropped. Crazy!
Since his arrival, Eric has inadvertently broken into uncharted territory for dance music. The man with an infamous fear of flying but a worldwide demand for his DJ sets is often faced with an uncomfortable choice before touring. That said; festivals, events, and venues across the planet have rocked to his performances, safe in the knowledge that they’re witnessing something special.
With his first artist album ready to drop very soon, Prydz is set to make another return to the mainstream, but as any underground electronic music fan worth their salt knows, he’s never far from proceedings, you just need to know where to find him.
Prydz is joined by Swedish young gun Jeremy Olander . Olander is Prydz’s protégé. From the very first demo, Prydz knew that there was something special about the Stockholm kid. Eric signed Olander for a five-release deal with his coveted Pryda Friends label, and later asking him to accompany him on his European shows.
Olander has without a doubt thrived under Prydz’ tutelage. His first two offerings, the ‘Riots/‘Evade’/‘Chronic’ release, which was later followed up by ‘Fairfax’/Rypamont’, were both two of the label’s biggest sellers in 2011. The releases were supported by some of dance music’s most famous DJs including British legendary tastemaker Pete Tong, who played both ‘Fairfax’ and ‘Rypamont’ on his BBC Radio 1 show for two consecutive weeks.
Whilst his remixes and productions have begun to cause major waves, this past year, Jeremy Olander has wowed crowds at some of the world’s most famous nightclubs and festivals. He played the slot before Prydz on the notorious terrace of Ibiza’s Amnesia club, one of world’s most spectacular dancefloors. He also played at Holland’s huge Dance Valley festival, and opened up the Pryda Friends arena Creamfields.
Throughout the course of the year, Olander has played alongside some of the finest DJs in the business in the likes of Sébastien Léger, Joris Voorn, James Zabiela and Sasha. All of this, which was nothing but a dream less than a year ago, has quickly become a mind-blowing reality.
Olander is far from being a mere imitator of his mentor. A true artist and student of music, his sound has continued to evolve as he has progressed. His music has gotten darker as he has begun to experiment with melody, and can at current be described as unpredictable, eclectic and filled with copious amounts of emotion. With all of the above taken into consideration, it’s beyond any shadow of a doubt that Jeremy Olander is the Swedish DJ star of the future.
