Electronic legend Moby has a brand new album and documentary out now with the music taking an orchestral approach to his all time classic records and the film digging deep into the history of the man himself…
It’s great news to see new material from electronic legend Moby with the release of his brand new album ‘Reprise’. The music takes a different turn with his classic songs being delivered with an orchestral style never released before. What’s even better is the release not only gets the usual digital and CD editions it also comes as a 2xLP for the record collectors out there. I can’t remember the last time we had a new Moby release on Vinyl.
Alongside the new music is also a Mody documentary that has been released looking back on the life of Moby with an original twist as you would expect from a Moby film. Here is what the man himself had to say about the releases and if you look down further you can find the tracklist and order links for the new material.
Moby on...MOBYDOC
'Moby Doc' is a VERY idiosyncratic and surreal documentary about me. It’s largely based around the idea that I spent a lot of time trying to fix internal, psychological issues with external things, like fame, validation, etc.
And it’s unconventional in that it avoids conventional music documentary cliches, and instead relies upon interviews with David Lynch, therapy sessions with my friend Julie Mintz, cartoons, and conversations with a husky.
I’ve worked for years on these two projects and I really, really hope that you get the chance to see and hear them!
Moby on ...Reprise
'Reprise' is, for lack of a better way of describing it, an orchestral greatest hits album. Although some of the songs were never hits in the conventional sense of the word..like ’the lonely night’, for example. So, maybe instead of calling it a ‘greatest hits’ I’ll call it ‘an album of songs that I’ve always wanted to hear played with an orchestra’. Ok, that’s maybe a bit more accurate.
It features an incredibly eclectic bunch of singers, from Gregory Porter to Mark Lanegan, Kris Kristofferson to Jim James, and many, many others.
